Summer time....and the livin's easy. [Jun. 2nd, 2006|12:10 am]
[mood |relaxedrelaxed]
[music |Yellowcard-Lonely Apartment]

Tonight I went to the Olive Garden with my mom. I actually got my mom to leave the house, you have no idea what a triumph and a big deal that is. It's been over a year since my dad left for good...and she's come a long away, but she still has really tough days, and I'm the only other person that lives here to hear about it, so it gets pretty tense sometimes. Anyway, it was great to see my mom happy, and get a free dinner from Olive Garden :)

After that I went to Donut Connection with Lindsay. I'm really glad we started talking/hanging out again. That bumps the people I talk to from high school up to...3?

Tom's birthday is Saturday...the big 22. I'm so excited. I got us tickets to the Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls concert July 15th(he's a huge closet fan of both...but shhhh, you didn't hear that from me) We're gonna stick out like sore thumbs. haha. I also got him a shirt he really wanted...and I'm sure I'll break the bank a bit more before Saturday.

Speaking of sore thumbs, I bruised/jammed/stoved/broke? my ring finger saturday playing football with Tom, and I STILL can't get my engagement ring on over my fat knuckle, it's driving me insane, I feel naked without it.

I work 5 days a week at Red Robin...a person can only take so much bussing tables. But I'm moving to the city at the end of August anyway, so i'll deal with it. It's kinda funny that that place is all about "burger pride", and I'm a vegetarian.

Fortunately, 2 weeks from now Tom and I will be taking a MUCH NEEDED vacation to Georgia. We're stopping in Atlanta for a few days to visit his mom and little half brother and sister, and to wander around the city. Then me and him are driving to Savannah for another few days, where he lived til he was 8, to go to the beach, the wild life reservation, and take in all of the beautiful Southern landscape. I've never been there, I'm so excited.

aaaaaaand I love warm weather and thunderstorms. the end.

My 21st Birthday Extravaganza! [May. 1st, 2006|11:45 pm]
[mood |drunkdrunk]

Ok, so i'm not actually drunk right now, I just think it's funny that you can list that as an emotion.

I slept over at Tom's last night so I could see him today for my birthday. For those of you who don't know, he works from 8:30pm-7am 5 days a week. So he got home around 8 and squeezed himself beside me on the couch. I woke him up at 2:30 so we could go and get his license renewed, but the DMV isn't open on Mondays. eff. So we went down to Rochester Park...which is always a sweet spot to visit, cuz it's where we had our first date/kiss. mmmmm, warm memories :)

The we decided to go to Coolies, which is the bar that Tom goes to to play pool. Kind of a hole in the wall, but it's usually fine. Yea. not today.

5 minutes after we get there this old fat drunk guy...for the purpose of this story we will call Bob, starts yelling across the bar to a younger guy named...Dan...for being a dirty ---- --- ---- -- --- that "ripped him off"..about something or other. Both guys were reeeeeeally drunk (at 4:30 on a monday, i dont know why) and mostly slurring whatever they were arguing about. This guy named Tom, who we'll call Tom 2 to avoid confusion gets between them and keep the peace when they stand up and try to go for each other. The bartender tells them to all shut up or get out. So they sit down, continue yelling for a minute, then pipe down.

After all of this is done I finally open my mouth to order my first legal drink, when Bob gets up and decks Tom 2, I mean a real cheap shot while the guy wasn't even looking. Several other bar flies jump up and go to grab Bob. Tom 2, stunned and confused, shakes his head and proceeds to hit Bob with his open fist, and smashes a scotch glass against the side of his face, cutting Bob 2 across the cheek and *right* above the juggular, which left him bleeding profusely. At this point everyone is knocking bar stools down, tackling each other, screaming, and swinging. Meanwhile Tom and I are sitting silently about 5 feet away from the brawl just watcthing in confusion and shock at what's taking place. Tom looks at me and asked "do you want to go somewhere else?" to which I responded "I don't think I ever want to drink anything"

None the less we went to a bar/lounge called Mulligans. I ordered a Sweet Tart which consisted of Citrus Vodka, Raspberry Liquier, sour, and cranberry juice. It was quite yummy. I had to drive Tom to work at 8, so that was my only drink. It was enough to get me drunk enough to trash talk Tom through a game of pool and really break his concentration. Ever seen the movie Baseketball? Yea, just total nonsense like that. We went back to the appartment and watched Friends, and then I drove my baby to work.

I stopped by Eli and Melissa's house on the way home and Eli made me practice my karioke skills, followed by an intense workout of DDR. lol. It was a fun evening.

And now I'm back home, about to break open some Martini and Rossi Austi sparkling wine that my mom got me...score!

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? [Apr. 5th, 2006|11:06 pm]
Sorry I've kind of fallen off the side of the earth lately. Italy was AMAZING, although I got really sick after I got back, which caused me to miss school and work. So I've since been trying to catch up at school, and work a lot to make up for lost money.

Italy was incredible. The Sistine Chapel, The Trevi fountain, The David, the ancient ruins of Pompeii. I even climbed to the top of a Volcano (Mt.Vesuvius) from which I could look down on all of Naples, and out to the Island of Capri. All of the different pasta dishes were a vegetarians dream come true, with a perfect wine to match each dish. The language barrior was frustrating at times, but it was more entertaining than anything else. Florence was definately the most beautiful out of the cities visited. Rome was kind of crowded and dirty, but nice none the less. They like, don't have lanes of traffic over there, it's a free for all in which everyone drive's their Fiat as fast as they can. It was a week of lots of running around and little sleep that I will remember fondly.

Back on the home front, Tom and I have set a date: Friday July 20, 2007. We were originally going to wait until after I graduated, buuuut we decided that trying to finish my senior year, find/start a career, and being doing last minute planning of a wedding would be a little too insane. So we're doing it after my junior year instead. Tom already works full time and makes more than enough for both of us to start out. We get to start hunting for an apartment that's equal distance to Point Park and to Ambridge. Tom will move in when he wants, and i'll move in after the wedding. I'm super excited. I started trying on wedding dresses...I want a big poofy pretty pretty princess dress :)

I finally got my tattoo worked on again! It was probably the best session yet. I was just so relaxed the whole time, it was such a nice stress reliever. I don't have a digital camera, so this was taken with my phone...not the greatest....but here's how it's looking after 4 sessions (totaling 12 hours...so keep in mind there's still about 30 hours left...we're aiming to have it done by October):

ok, LJ is being REALLY dumb right, I give up trying to post it, so you can look at here:

The proposal [Feb. 27th, 2006|11:25 pm]
[mood |giddygiddy]

Ok, I figured I'd type it here, so I didn't have to type it a million times individually on AOL. It's long, but hey, it was pretty much the most important day of my life so far, so I didn't want to leave out any details ;-) Oh, and I like telling stories.

Quick Backround (Feel free to skip):

The only hint Tom ever gave me towards his proposal was that it would "involve a time machine". That's it.
We decided to have my great grandmothers diamond reset to a new ring.
I would have had to go with Tom anyway to get it done to choose one, so we agreed that I could just go pick out a setting and get it done, and he'd pick it up.
The new setting came in on saturday, so we dropped off my great grandmothers ring.
They told him he could pick it up after 8pm.
We hung out at the mall for awhile, and i wanted to go home and rest for a little bit before we went to my friends house later that night.
He said he wanted to stay and pick up the ring, so he wouldnt have to go back tomorrow.
I go home, take a nap, and wake up to find him looking totally lost saying "it's so beautiful, I don't know how I'm going to keep it from you"
He gave it to my mom to hide from me, and we left to go to a movie night with a bunch of my friends....

From there...(Feel free to skip to the last paragraph to see how it ends if you don't feel like reading, haha)
We watched movies at Jennie's house. Everyone stayed til around 1 or 1:30 and talked, and then went home. I was getting sleepy, so I asked Tom to drive. We get to my car and I realized I left my phone on the table, so he pulls the car in front of Jennie's house to get it. A cop pulled up behind me, so i jumped into the driver's seat and moved the car out of the way. The cop then turned around and came back, so I had to move again. He then pulled behind me and turned his lights on. I asked him what was wrong and he said "well i dont know, you keep driving up and down the street here and turning around...its pretty late...what's goin on?" I was blown away by the idiocracy of this question, but managed to bite my tounge and tell him I was waiting for my boyfriend. He then left. I ran into the house to tell everyone, cuz I couldn't figure out what was taking Tom so long....little did I know he was showing everyone the ring and explaining what he was gonna do...

...we all laugh about me getting "pulled over" and then headed out again. Tom starts making wrong turns and going in the complete opposite direction of my house. I asked him what he was doing and he said "Well, we could go home now, but we'll probably just fall asleep, and that would be a waste...let's just drive and talk and listen to music, it'll be a fun adventure!" I kinda woke up and became excited by the idea...so off we went...(it's really easy to get me lost, so it didn't take long til I had NO idea where we were).

We drove for about 2 hours...from kiski to 422west...from 422west to 79?...and he said
"let's stop at the eatnpark at this next exit!" (NOTE: Tom never makes ANY decisions or ANY plans to go ANYWHERE...he always leaves that to me....the suspision begins)
"I'm not really hungry"
"that's ok!"
"are you hungry?"
"not really."
"so why are we going?"
"you can grab something small...or coffee! you can get coffee!"
"i hate coffee"
"it's ok, well we just take a break from the road" (....the suspision continues)

We grabbed a quick bite, and Tom continued to get more nervous and weird. the "break from the road" i found later, as I suspected at the time, was a last ditch effort for him to get his nerves together).

We drive for another half hour or so, it's about 4:15 at this point when he cuts me off and turns off the radio and says "shhh...i think i heard your car make a noise" (NOTE: to anyone that knows my history with cars breaking down, the thought of the focus making a "noise" in the middle of a freezing cold night in the middle of nowhere, was terrifying to me). But he says he'll just pull over and check. Right then my mom calls to make sure everythings ok, cuz it's pretty late. I hang up with her and tom gets back in the car with the hood still up. He tells me that it was what he thought it was, and wanted to show me how to fix it if it ever happened when I was alone.

I get out of the car and go to the hood. Tom didn't get out of the car. I look down and see a piece of paper on the engine that says "time machine" with an arrow pointing to the car. There was another piece of paper labeled "flux capacitor" (The thing from Back to the Future that created the time machine...yes...we're huge dorks)

I took the pieces of paper and shakily got back into the car. Tom pulled my hat down and wrapped my scarf around my face and said "time travel is very dangerous, you need to shield your eyes". The next 20 minutes or so of driving are pretty much a blur...we exchanged a few nervous laughes and comments. All of the sudden the car stops and he says "ok hold on, I have to make sure we arrived at the exact moment in time". He came to my door and told me to keep my eyes closed and follow him. I realized I was walking down a brick road, and I started to cry a little.

He walked me up a flight of steps, then he leaned me against a wall, told me to sit down and said "give me like 5 seconds and open your eyes" I waited and then removed the scarf from my face. I had just enough time to realize I was sitting where I thought I was...outside of Mr.Smalls...sitting on the porch, in the exact spot I was when we met. He came out of the front door, just like he did when we met, and walked over to me.

His eyes got really big and he said "Oh my God...you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Oh my God. You're just so smart and funny and pretty and wonderful. Wow, I don't know what to say."

At this point he came over to me and reached out his hands to lift me up. As he did that, he got down on one knee and said "you are the most perfect girl in the world. I'm so madly in love with you, and you've given me more than I could ever ask for. I want nothing more than to be with you until the day I die.......will you marry me?"

I was reduced to a puddle of tears at this point, but managed to sputter out a "yes". He put the ring on my finger and stood up to hug me. As he did that he whisphered in my ear "that's how the first day I met you should have gone".

I laughed and told him that probably would have freaked me out, and we both laughed through the tears and hugged and kissed and shivered as the snow fell around us at 4:45 am. It was the most amazingly beautiful, surreal, fairy tale moment that, in time, will become one of the warmest memories of my life. I am so excited to grow old with my best friend.

Fake Valentines [Feb. 22nd, 2006|12:53 am]
[mood |sleepysleepy]
[music |WDUQ]

I had the best fake Valentines Day ever <3 <3 <3
We couldn't be together on the real one, so we made Saturday ours.

Tom and I got all dressed up and went to the Melting Pot.
Cheese Fondue+Chocolate Fondue=the best meal ever.

Tom went all the way back to the parking lot by himself and picked me up at the door. Such a nice gesture on such a FREEZING cold night.

Then we picked up a six pack of Yuenling (sp?) and came home. We watched the first few episodes of Friends season seven, laughed WAY too hard, and then crawled into bed and slept til about 1 on Sunday.

So yea, fondue, a six pack, and Friends...if that doesn't say classy, I don't know what does. It'll be hard to top that next year ;-)

Welcome Back [Feb. 20th, 2006|11:47 am]
[mood |calmcalm]

I know it's cliche...but it's been a long time since I've used one of these. I just couldn't shake a few people in the past, so I stopped writing. But screw it, there will always be lame people out there, I'm not letting that get in the way anymore.

Soooo, just to fill in some details:

I'm finishing my sophomore year at Penn State New Ken, and finally, the transferring process to Point Park is complete for next year where I'll continue majoring in broadcasting.

I turn 21 May 1st. I think my brother and sister-in-law are more excited that I am.

Oh yea, my brother got married in August. It was the first wedding I was ever in, and it was awesome. I have the coolest sister-in-law ever :)

I worked at a movie theater from July-December, it was the easiest job ever, but the hours were long and the pay sucked. So i moved to greener pastures, and I now bus tables at Red Robin.

I leave for Italy next Saturday for a week(!!!!)

And of course, the most important part of my life, Tom and I are still together. It was a year and 8 months yesterday. We are getting married June 20, 2008 (I know, a long ways, we wanted to wait til I graduated). (cliche again, I know, but) He is the most wonderful, thoughtful, caring, understanding, sweet, affectionate, loving person, and I'm so excited to know that we are going to grow old together.

Oh, and a quick note on the engagement, we decided to have my great-grandmother's diamond reset to a very pretty ring. We sent it out a few weeks ago, and he's going to pick it up. He still insists on being old fashioned and "officially" proposing before I get it back. hehe. So when that happens, I'll let you know.

So yea, that's pretty much it for now...
